Hospice Chaplain, Per Diem

Position Overview:

All Care’s Hospice Chaplains provide direct spiritual care services and counseling to hospice patients and their family members in collaboration with the inter-disciplinary group (IDG). Ensures that the spiritual care assists with the patients’ self-determined life closure/safe, comfortable, and meaningful dying experience and family’s effective grieving, in compliance with hospice standards.

Schedule: 3-days a week

Work Location: On the road in assigned territory, including Cambridge and surrounding communities

Position Type: Per Diem
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Provide spiritual assessment of patients, families, and caregivers in the hospice program and assure appropriate services are rendered in a timely manner.
  • Provides direct spiritual care (interfaith) to meet the identified needs of patients, families, and caregivers.
  • Provides consultation, education, and support to the interdisciplinary team on spiritual care and bereavement.
  • Participate in All Care’s Service of Remembrances
  • Presides at/plans funeral and memorial services at family request.
  • Documents all care provided and maintain records per All Care policy and standards.
  • Participates in All Care team meetings, including but not limited to, interdisciplinary team meetings, in-service and training programs.
  • Travels to patients’ homes and/or other facilities with varying environments (e.g., elevated buildings, walk-ups, care facilities, single/multiple family homes, presence of pets, etc.) using approved transportation options to deliver care.
Qualifications:

Valid driver’s license required.

  • Education:
    • A Master of Divinity (M.Div.) or equivalent theological degree from an accredited seminary or divinity school required
    • Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) training, or similar spiritual care education, is preferred.
  • Experience:
    • Previous experience providing spiritual care in a health care setting, such as hospice, palliative care, or hospital chaplaincy, is preferred.
    • Experience with grief counseling and end-of-life issues is a plus.
  • Skills:
    • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide compassionate, nonjudgmental spiritual support.
    • Excellent communication and active listening skills to support patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team.
    • Ability to remain calm, empathetic, and effective in emotionally charged situations.
    • Comfort with diverse religious and spiritual traditions and practices.
